Description
The Large Metal is the Aviator at full size, the 1937 shape Ray-Ban built to a US Army Air Corps brief for a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude.
The frame is polished silver, brighter and cooler than the gunmetal versions, running through the wire rims, the double bridge and the temples. Black temple tips and clear adjustable nose pads set against it, so the contrast is sharper here than on the gold frames.
The lenses are a deep grey-green, flat and even across the whole lens with no gradient and no mirror. Straight on they read almost black, and at an angle the green comes through. Cool metal against a dark lens is the most understated way to wear the shape.
