Description

The Aviator Large Metal is the 1937 original, and in black it loses the gold-rim association entirely. Same teardrop lenses, same double brow bar, same thin wire frame, read quieter.

Black front, black temples, black tips, and a polarised black lens dark enough that very little reads through it from the outside. The P beside the logo marks the polarisation, which cuts glare off water, road and glass rather than only dimming what is behind it.

58mm lens width only, on a metal frame with 100% UV protection.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
