Description

Ray-Ban built the Aviator in 1937 to a US Army Air Corps brief for a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The Large Metal is that shape at full size.

This one pairs a dark gunmetal frame with G-15 green, the classic Ray-Ban tint. It is a deep green that reads close to black from the outside and stays neutral to look through.

The lenses are polarised, so reflected glare off water, road and windscreens is filtered out rather than only dimmed. Black temple tips and clear adjustable nose pads finish the frame.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
