Description

Drawn in 1937 for pilots, the Aviator Large Metal has not moved far since: teardrop lenses, a double brow bar and a wire frame thin enough to disappear on the face.

Gold front and temples, with blue lenses that run deeper across the top and lift towards the bottom edge. The tips are a pale blue that picks the lens colour up, which is a softer read than the usual black or tortoise.

Two lens widths, 55mm and 58mm, on a metal frame with 100% UV protection.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
