Description
The Large Metal is the Aviator at full size, the 1937 shape Ray-Ban drew to a US Army Air Corps brief for a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. This is the all-black reading of it.
The frame is black through the wire rims, the double bridge and the temples, with black temple tips and clear adjustable nose pads. Nothing on it catches the light.
The lenses are a solid polarised black, opaque from the outside and even across the whole lens. The polarising filter takes out reflected glare off water, wet tarmac and glass, which is the glare a dark tint on its own cannot do much about. Three widths, so there is a fit whether you want the Aviator close to the face or oversized.
