Description
The Wayfarer arrived in 1952 and has barely changed since, which is why the shape still reads as shorthand for a pair of sunglasses. The Mega Wayfarer II takes the same angled trapezoid front and scales it up, so the brow sits higher and the lens covers more of the face.
The front is a transparent dark blue, deep enough to look near-navy in shade and clearly see-through once the light gets behind it. Silver rivets sit at the temples and the Ray-Ban logo plate runs along each arm.
The lenses are a clear gradient grey, dark across the top and lifting to almost nothing at the bottom edge. That keeps the glare off without closing your eyes off from view, which is what makes a gradient easier to wear indoors and out than a flat tint.
