Description
The Wayfarer arrived in 1952 and the RB2140 is the one that kept the original proportions: the canted browline, the sharp outside corners, the wide temples that taper to a point.
The difference here is the finish. This is matte black, flat right through the front, the temples and the tips, with no shine to catch the light, and silver rivets left as the only bright point. Against the gloss version it reads a lot quieter.
The lens is Crystal Green, a deep bottle tone, dark enough for full sun and not mirrored. It comes in two widths, the 50 and the 52, so the fit list below carries both. The 50 photographed here is stamped RB 2140 901S/31 50 22 150 3N inside the bridge, confirming a category 3 tint with no polarising filter.
