Wayfarer Classic Sunglasses - Photo Striped Grey/Green

The Wayfarer arrived in 1952 and the RB2140 is the one that kept the original proportions: the canted browline, the sharp outside corners, the wide temples that taper to a point.

Worth saying plainly, because the name does not: Photo Striped Grey is not grey. It is a translucent warm olive, closer to sand and light khaki, with fine darker stripes running horizontally through the acetate so the colour shifts along the browline and down the temples. A small dark plaque carries the Ray-Ban signature on each arm and the wire core shows gold through the translucent front.

The lens is a deep green, dark enough for full sun and not mirrored, which keeps the frame doing the talking. The bridge is stamped RB 2140 1387/31 50 22 150 3N, so the fit figures below come off the pair itself, and the 3N confirms a category 3 tint with no polarising filter.
