Description
The New Wayfarer is the 1952 shape with the angles taken off. Ray-Ban narrowed the front, softened the corners and pulled the browline back, so it sits closer to the face and reads smaller than the original at the same lens width.
The tortoise here is a warm one, amber and dark brown mottled through the front and carried all the way down the temples, with silver rivets and a gold wire core showing along the rim. The brown lens is solid rather than gradient and it is polarised, so it warms the view slightly and takes the flat glare off water, wet road and bright sand.
POLARIZED is printed along the top of the left lens and the P sits next to the Ray-Ban wordmark, which is how you tell this one from the unpolarised tortoise at a glance. This is the 55, the larger of the two widths the New Wayfarer is made in.
