Description
The New Wayfarer is Ray-Ban's softened reworking of the 1952 original. The front is a little smaller and the corners are rounder, so it keeps the shape everyone recognises while sitting more easily day to day.
This is rubber black finished two ways. The front and the outer arms carry the soft matte finish, broken only by the silver rivets and the white Ray-Ban signature, while the inside of the rims and temples is gloss black. If you are weighing it against the all-matte rubber black 622, that gloss lining and the colour code 6462/31 printed inside the arm are the difference.
The lens is G-15, Ray-Ban's classic green, neutral rather than warm or cool, so it takes the brightness down without pushing colours around. It is not polarised. The frame is injected nylon with the keyhole bridge carried over from the original, and it comes in three widths.
