Description
The Gascan is a wide, flat-fronted rectangle that wraps at the sides: the frame carries on past the lenses into a deep, squared-off hinge, and the arms run straight back from there. It is a solid, low-slung shape with a full rim around two separate lenses.
This is matte black throughout, with a metal Oakley icon set into each arm. Prizm Sapphire is a bright blue mirror that deepens to violet at the edges, and it reads rose from behind. It is polarised, so the flat glare off water, wet road and glass is cut rather than only dimmed, and Prizm works underneath it on contrast, so detail holds in bright light.
The frame is O Matter, Oakley's own lightweight frame material, and the lens measures 60mm across.

About Oakley
Oakley started in 1975 in Jim Jannard's California garage, selling motocross grips made from a material he invented and named Unobtanium. Grips became goggles, goggles became sunglasses, and by the 1990s designs like the Eye Jacket and M Frame had rewritten performance eyewear. The obsessions have never changed: material science and optics, from O Matter frames to Prizm lenses tuned to sharpen contrast in specific conditions.
