Description

A transparent front changes how a Wayfarer reads. The rivets, the hinge cores and the cut edge of the lens all show through the smoke grey plastic, so the frame looks lighter on the face than a solid one at the same width.

The lens is a dark blue and it is polarised, which is the version to reach for around water. A polarising filter takes out the horizontal glare bouncing off a surface, so you get the depth underneath it back instead of a sheet of white.

It is the only colourway here that runs the full New Wayfarer size range, 52mm, 55mm and 58mm, on a nylon frame with the keyhole bridge.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
