Description

The Wayfarer arrived in 1952 and has barely changed since, which is why the shape still reads as shorthand for a pair of sunglasses. The Mega Wayfarer II takes the same angled trapezoid front and scales it up, so the brow sits higher and the lens covers more of the face.

This one is a transparent beige, a pale champagne tone you can see straight through, with the temple hinges and rivets in silver. Classic green lenses sit behind it, the tone Ray-Ban has run on the Wayfarer from the start, and the contrast between a near-clear front and a dark lens is what makes the colourway work.

The Ray-Ban signature sits in white on the right lens, the logo plate on each temple.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
