Description
Ray-Ban drew the Aviator in 1937 to a US Army Air Corps brief for a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude, and the Large Metal is that teardrop at full size.
The frame is gunmetal, a dark charcoal grey with just enough sheen to catch the light along the wire rims and the double bridge. It sits between the gold and the black versions, cooler than one and softer than the other. Black temple tips and clear adjustable nose pads finish it.
The lenses are G-15 green, the classic Ray-Ban tint, dark enough to read almost black from the outside and neutral enough to look through that colours hold their proper shape. Grey metal and green glass is the least showy way to wear this shape.
