Waterproof backpacks from Rains, made in the Danish brand's signature PU fabric. The full-size Backpack (18L) is the commuter pick: a squared silhouette with a flap that closes on magnet snaps, a single main compartment with a flat pocket that takes a 16-inch laptop, an internal zip pocket and an external zip pocket on the back panel. The Backpack Mini (12.5L) is the same design scaled down, still with a laptop pocket (up to 15 inches) and the same snaps and pockets, and it sits neatly on smaller frames.
Both have adjustable shoulder straps and a webbing top handle, wipe clean, hold their shape and don't need a rain cover. Rains developed the fabric so the bag reads as a design object rather than outdoor kit, and it handles an Auckland winter without you having to think about it.
Black, Green and Beige are the core colours and get restocked. Seasonal colours such as Depth and Lagoon are one run only.
