Description
The RB2229 is a shield, built as one piece: a single lens spans the whole front under a flat brow bar, and the nose bridge sits behind it rather than splitting the view in two.
This is the matte black colourway, flat black through the brow and along the wide, squared temples, with the Ray-Ban signature in white on each arm. The lens is Dark Blue Mirror Violet, which is doing more than the name suggests: head on it reads as a cool silver blue, and off-angle the mirror turns violet through the middle and warm gold towards the edges. From behind it settles into a soft neutral grey.
These are not polarised. The mirror coating is what knocks the brightness back, and the lens blocks 100% of UV either way. The frame is propionate, a light plastic that holds a flat matte finish, and the metal nose bridge carries adjustable pads.
