Description
The RB2229 is a shield. One piece of lens runs the full width of the face, flat along the top with a small notch lifted over the bridge, and the rim wraps it rather than splitting it into two.
Worth being straight about the lens, because the colour name undersells it. This is a strong mirror, and on the frame it reads bright cyan through the middle shifting to blue and violet at the outer edges, moving as the angle changes. There is very little silver in it and no green from the outside. It is polarised, so behind the mirror the glare comes off hard water and bright road rather than just being dimmed.
The frame is matte black, flat through the front and the temples, which keeps the attention on the lens. The bridge is stamped RB 2229 901S/A1 129 3P: on a shield there is no lens width or bridge to give, so the frame carries the temple length, 129mm, and the 3P confirms a category 3 tint with a polarising filter.
