Description

The Mega Wayfarer takes the Wayfarer of 1952 and scales it up. Thicker through the rim, wider across the front, with the silver rivets left exactly where they have always been.

This is the Transparent Green colourway: a clear smoky green front, temples patterned in green and burgundy, and silver mirrored lenses over the top. From the outside you get a flash of mirror sitting on a frame you can see straight through. The frame is propionate, a light plastic that holds a transparent finish well and keeps the extra size from telling.

About Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban began in 1937 with a commission from the US Army Air Corps: build a lens pilots could trust against glare at altitude. The result became the Aviator, and the Wayfarer followed in 1952, two of the most recognised and most copied designs in eyewear history. Nearly a century on, the icons remain in production largely unchanged while a new generation of designs, from bio-based frames to the sculptural Puffer series, keeps the catalogue moving. Few brands span military kit, film wardrobes and everyday essentials in the same breath.
