Description
The Gibston XL is the bigger build of the Gibston, Oakley's rectangular wrap. The brow runs straight across the front and the lens curves back towards the hinge, so it sits closer to the face than a flat frame does, and the temples are thick and square with the Oakley icon set into the side.
Clear is a glossy see-through crystal from the front through to the tips, with a bright blue Oakley icon on each arm. Prizm Sapphire is a bright blue mirror that turns violet towards the outer edges, with a warm rose tint from behind, and it is polarised, so glare coming off water, roads and glass is cut rather than just dimmed.
The frame is O Matter, Oakley's own lightweight frame material, and the lens measures 62mm across, against 60mm on the standard Gibston.

About Oakley
Oakley started in 1975 in Jim Jannard's California garage, selling motocross grips made from a material he invented and named Unobtanium. Grips became goggles, goggles became sunglasses, and by the 1990s designs like the Eye Jacket and M Frame had rewritten performance eyewear. The obsessions have never changed: material science and optics, from O Matter frames to Prizm lenses tuned to sharpen contrast in specific conditions.
