The Hakama Shorts V2 take the pleated, wide leg shape Checks Downtown is known for and cut it in a lightweight cotton ripstop. The grid weave gives the fabric a dry, crisp hand and a subtle texture that reads as almost matte in black, so the silhouette does the talking.

Deep pleats fall from the waist into a generous three-quarter leg that stops just below the knee. The waistband is elasticated at the back with belt loops and a button fly at the front, so they sit cleanly without feeling restrictive. Side pockets and two buttoned flap pockets at the back keep the essentials in place.
