It defined the retro-future look Oakley built its name on, the biggest athletes of the nineties wore them everywhere, and the Y2K eyewear revival has put the silhouette back at the centre of things. Why the Eye Jacket matters
In the early nineties Oakley was a sports company obsessed with materials and optics, and the Eye Jacket was where that engineering attitude turned into design. Nothing else on the shelf looked like it. It set the template for the sport-wrap frames that followed, and half of what is happening in eyewear right now traces back to it.
The Redux, first reissued in 2018, keeps the original lines and rebuilds them in modern materials. The frame is O Matter, Oakley's lightweight injected material, and every lens in the range is Prizm.
What Prizm actually does
Prizm is Oakley's lens technology. Each lens is tuned to filter specific wavelengths of light, which sharpens contrast and detail instead of simply darkening everything. Prizm Grey and Prizm Black are the everyday options. Prizm Tungsten and Bronze warm the view up. The Snow lenses are built for bright alpine light. Polarised versions add glare-cutting on top, which matters most around water, windscreens and wet roads.

All seven run the same frame: rounded rectangular, narrow fitting, high bridge, 58mm lens width, 137mm temples. What changes is the finish and the glass.

The Matte Black with Prizm Grey is the closest to the original and the easiest to wear daily, so start there if in doubt. The Silver polarised is the full chrome-era look with the premium lens, the Matte Grey Smoke with its icy blue mirror is the loudest of the seven, and the printed Grey Ink Fingerprint reads plain from a distance and detailed up close.
