Description
The Mega Wayfarer is the 1952 Wayfarer scaled up. Same canted brow and tapered corners, same silver rivets, but the rims are thicker and the front is deeper, so the shape carries far more presence on the face.
Transparent Light Brown is a pale, see-through tan that runs from the front down the wide temples to the tips, clear enough that the rivets and the metal core in each arm show through, with a raised Ray-Ban badge on the outside of each temple. The Dark Brown lenses are a solid, even tint with no gradient or mirror, carrying the Ray-Ban script on one lens and a small white crest printed high on the other, with the crest repeated on the tip of the arm.
The frame is propionate, made in Italy, and stamped RB 0840S Mega Wayfarer 6870/1A 51 21 145 2N on the inside of the arm, so the fit figures below come off the frame itself. The 2N marks a category 2 tint, one step lighter than a standard dark sun lens, and the lens is not polarised.
