Description
This Sutro Lite Sweep is from the Mathieu van der Poel Signature Series. It pairs Oakley's Sutro frame with the sweep lens shape first made popular by the Eyeshade: one oversized lens under a flat brow, open along the lower edge, with a cutout at the nose in place of a bridge and the sides of the lens sweeping back past the end of the brow.
Space Dust is a silver frame shot through with a fine multicoloured fleck. The arms are grey with a white crackle print, and each hinge carries a red Oakley icon on a white plate. The lens is vented, with a row of round vents cut through along the top, and van der Poel's MVDP initials are etched at the centre above the nose. Prizm Ruby is a red mirror that runs to orange and gold towards the outer edges and reads bronze from behind.
The frame is O Matter, Oakley's own lightweight frame material, and the arms are cut with angular facets along their length. The lens is not polarised.

About Oakley
Oakley started in 1975 in Jim Jannard's California garage, selling motocross grips made from a material he invented and named Unobtanium. Grips became goggles, goggles became sunglasses, and by the 1990s designs like the Eye Jacket and M Frame had rewritten performance eyewear. The obsessions have never changed: material science and optics, from O Matter frames to Prizm lenses tuned to sharpen contrast in specific conditions.
