Maison Essentiele makes the kind of silk pieces that blur the line between sleepwear and the best thing in the room, and finding it in New Zealand is not easy. Wally is an authorised Maison Essentiele stockist. Here is the story behind the Sydney label.
The Maison Essentiele story
Maison Essentiele was founded in Sydney in 2019 by Olivia Koennecke as a silk sleepwear label, and expanded into full ready-to-wear in 2024. The references are vintage lingerie, nineties minimalism and the founder's grandmother's vintage wardrobe, worked into what the brand calls "timeless silhouettes, considered details, and vintage aesthetics". The materials philosophy is simple: 100 percent silk, cotton and wool, built to last.
The pieces to know
The lace-trimmed silk pieces are the signature: the Silk Lace Mini Skirt and Lace Pants carry the sleepwear DNA into daylight, while the Kimono Top and Kimono Skirt are the more sculptural side of the label. The Satin Trouser is the sleeper hit: polished enough for an evening, comfortable enough that you will resent every other trouser afterwards.
Sizing and fit
Maison Essentiele uses AU sizing from XS to XL, with some styles in S/M and L/XL splits. As a guide, an AU 8 is a US 4. The silk pieces are bias-friendly and forgiving, but check the bust measurements on fitted styles; the brand publishes them per size.
