Huski is the Auckland drinkware brand that turned keeping a drink cold into an award-winning design exercise, and it has just landed at Wally. Wally is an authorised Huski stockist. Here's the story, what's in store now, and what's still to come this year.
The Huski story
Huski was founded in Auckland in 2017 by husband and wife Simon and Meika Huesser, in the brand's own words "a couple of Kiwis who love a cold beer", after a decade living in the UK. It is 100% New Zealand owned, and the gear has racked up serious recognition: a Good Design Award in 2021, a Best Design Awards finalist spot the same year, and a New York Product Design Award in 2022. Rihanna was photographed with a Huski Champagne Flute at Camp Flog Gnaw in late 2025, which is about as far from a Takapuna shop shelf as a Kiwi drinks accessory has ever travelled.
How it works
Every Huski cooler is triple insulated: double walled, vacuum insulated and copper lined. The brand says its Beer Cooler 2.0 keeps a beer up to ten times colder than an uninsulated bottle, and it works straight off the shelf. There's no pre-chilling and no wet ice. You grab a cold one from the fridge, push it through the lid and it stays ice cold to the last sip, with zero condensation on your hands or the table.
The bodies are corrosion resistant stainless steel (marine grade 316 on the bottle and big can coolers), with scalloped sides for grip and a silicone base so they stay put. Pour your drink straight in and each cooler doubles as an insulated tumbler.
In store now: the Father's Day range
Our first Huski drop is built with Father's Day (Sunday 6 September) squarely in mind:
- Beer Cooler 2.0, the 2021 Good Design Award winner, fits most 330ml to 375ml bottles and cans with a 3-in-1 opener hidden in the base
- Big Can Cooler for 440ml and 500ml cans
- Slim Can Cooler for RTDs, energy drinks and slim cans
- Smoco Short Tumbler 2.0 from Huski's sister brand, for the coffee-then-gin crowd
- The stocking-filler tier: Classic Bottle Opener, 3-in-1 Bottle Opener Keyring and the 2-in-1 Can Tab Slider Keyring that opens cans and then covers them against beach sand and bugs
Colours run brushed stainless, black and stone grey, plus Malbec and Deep Teal, the two limited release colours Huski created for Father's Day this year. Once the limited colours sell through, that's them done.
Coming later this year
This is only half the catalogue. From mid-September we're adding the wine side of the range: the Wine Cooler that keeps a bottle chilled for up to six hours without ice, the Wine Tumbler 2.0, Champagne Flute and Champagne Cooler, along with the Wine Cooler Tote, the BubbleLock Bottle Stopper and further colours across the coolers and Smoco tumblers. From there we'll be topping up the favourites in the run-up to Christmas, so if a Huski is on someone's list, it should be in the building.
