Gracious is a New Zealand label doing something quietly radical: making workwear you would actually choose to wear. Wally is an authorised Gracious stockist. Here is why this small Kiwi brand is worth knowing.
The Gracious story
Gracious was founded by Grace, who came to fashion from a finance career and designs for the life she knows: days that move from the office to everything after it. In the brand's own words, Gracious is "reimagining work wear, combining elegance with pops of colour and thoughtful details", with blouses "elegant enough to be worn in a corporate setting, and playful enough to be worn outside of work".
Made with care, documented
Gracious is unusually transparent about manufacturing. The garments are made in a mid-sized, family-run factory in Dongguan that holds an amfori BSCI "A" rating with a full SMETA audit, and the fabric mills hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS certifications. The brand is honest that not every garment carries those certifications yet, which is exactly the kind of honesty most labels avoid. The founder visits the factory every year.
Sizing and fit
Sizing runs S to XL. The shirts are designed to sit slightly oversized through the shoulders, and the brand's own guidance on the Vela Shirt is to size up if you are fuller-busted. Each product page publishes the model's size and measurements, which makes online sizing genuinely workable.
Where to buy Gracious in New Zealand
Gracious works in small runs, and pieces sell through rather than getting repeated, so the range moves quickly. Right now Wally carries the Aven and Vela shirts, the Vela Dress and the Luna Tank.
